Dragon Boat Festival '驿' Family Reunion: Outdoor workers and the elderly living alone, please accept this 'zongzi'!
On May 29th, the aroma of zongzi filled the heartwarming station at the Beijing Urban Construction Northern Group Qinghe Xiaoying project. A party building and joint construction activity, "Dragon Boat Festival Zongzi Fragrance at the Station, Warmth Between Neighbors and Workers," was in full swing. More than ten volunteers from the project's party branch, the Mechanical College Joint Community First Party Branch, and Beijing Jiaxing Jia Housekeeping were busy wrapping zongzi and delivering blessings to outdoor workers and elderly residents living alone nearby.
The Xinjing Daily reported on the event.
At the event site, glutinous rice, bamboo leaves, red dates, and other materials were neatly arranged on the table. Volunteers gathered together, showcasing their skills—rolling leaves, filling with rice, sealing, and tying. With skillful hands, one zongzi after another quickly took shape.
Young volunteers humbly learned zongzi-wrapping techniques from experienced elders. "My mother always made them at home, but today I made over 20 myself." Young volunteer Ye Yutong tried wrapping zongzi for the first time and found it particularly meaningful.
The freshly cooked zongzi emitted an alluring aroma. Deliveryman Li, receiving a steaming hot zongzi, exclaimed, "Working outdoors, having a place to rest out of the sun and rain, free water and charging, and now zongzi—it's so thoughtful!" That day, over 20 deliverymen, sanitation workers, and other outdoor workers enjoyed this sweet care.
Meanwhile, volunteers also delivered sweet zongzi to the construction workers of the Qinghe Xiaoying Building Materials City collective land leasing housing project, expressing respect and gratitude for their hard work.
In addition, volunteers visited approximately 50 elderly residents living alone nearby, delivering zongzi and festive blessings. At each home, volunteers chatted cordially with the elderly, inquiring about their health and living needs.
One elderly person enthusiastically showed their musical talent to the volunteers, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
"Traditional festivals are important vehicles for promoting Chinese virtues and culture and conveying social warmth." Hu Haichao, secretary of the project's party branch, introduced. By organizing activities such as "Respecting the Elderly on the Double Ninth Festival" and "Sending Warmth on the Winter Solstice," allowing urban builders and residents to feel warmth, is a vivid footnote to the practice of new-era civilization.
The heartwarming station at the Beijing Urban Construction Northern Group Qinghe Xiaoying project is an important platform for the project's party branch to carry out party building activities. It aims to create a warm and comfortable haven for project construction workers, outdoor workers, and surrounding residents. In addition to daily services such as hot water and microwave heating, it also has video doctors, AED defibrillators, an emergency contact room, a party and group activity room, a reading area, and a rest area. It has served approximately 800 construction workers, approximately 150 outdoor workers, and over 3000 visitors.
Construction workers are consulting via video doctor.
