Shijingshan model mouth renovation project awarded "Beijing urban renewal best practice"

Recently, the results of the "Beijing Urban Renewal Best Practices" selection activity were announced. The Shijingshan District Model Mouth Historical and Cultural District Protection and Renewal Project undertaken by Beijing Urban Construction North Group stood out from 210 projects recommend and declared by more than 100 units in the city and was awarded "Beijing Urban Renewal Best Practices".

The selection activity is organized and carried out by the Beijing Urban Planning Society under the guidance of the Beijing Urban Renewal Special Group and the support of the Municipal Party Committee Urban Industry Office, the Municipal Housing and Construction Commission, and the Municipal Planning Commission. It is intended to select projects with demonstration and leading effects. Formed a replicable urban renewal experience, a total of 210 applications were received. Through expert preliminary evaluation, online voting, expert re-evaluation and comprehensive reconsideration, 16 "best practices" and 18 "excellent cases" of urban renewal were finally selected, totaling 34 selected projects.

The 16 "best practices" include not only online celebrity commercial blocks and historical and cultural blocks, but also old communities and industrial parks. Take the model entrance in Shijingshan District as an example. After the official opening of the street on National Day last year, it showed the effect of "30 shops in five landscapes and seven courtyards", and the millennium camel bell ancient road was rejuvenated with vigor and vitality.

The original name of the model mouth was "grindstone mouth", which began in the Western Zhou Dynasty and was famous in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It was named after the bluestone grindstone. Since ancient times, it has been the old camel bell road from Kyoto to the outside of the Sai, but it has become messy and disorderly due to scattered operations in the past. Since Shijingshan District started the renovation of the historical and cultural block of the model mouth, Beijing Urban Construction North Group has undertaken a number of courtyard renovation, new construction and street environment improvement construction tasks.

Due to the unique geographical location of the project and the architectural characteristics of the ancient building style, it has brought more difficulties to the management of the site. The project management team overcame many difficulties such as scattered construction courtyards, narrow roads in cultural relics protection areas, time-consuming and laborious transportation of various materials, and difficult on-site management.
